Vegan Village Society Founder Calls for Ban on Animal Offerings in Churches, Advocates for Animal Rights

Public Relation Officer

Bob Rumanzi, founder of the Vegan Village Society, made a passionate appeal to church leaders to consider banning the practice of offering animals as offatory gifts in churches. Speaking to a large congregation at Rwanyanja Church of Uganda in Bugangari Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese, during the Thanksgiving event for Boaz Rutera, Rumanzi condemned the practice as “satanic” and urged Christians to reflect on their treatment of animals.

Quoting Proverbs 12:10, which states, “The righteous care for the needs of their animals,” Rumanzi emphasized that offering animals does not give glory to God.

Instead, he argued, it violates the God-given rights of these animals. “Animals are part of God’s creation, and they deserve care and respect, not to be sacrificed or mistreated due to ignorance,” he told the gathering.

The call comes as part of a broader initiative recently launched by the Vegan Village Society to visit churches and raise awareness about animal welfare. The campaign aims to educate congregations on the ethical treatment of animals and promote plant-based diets as a compassionate and sustainable alternative.

Rumanzi’s message is timely as more people worldwide are becoming conscious of animal rights and the moral implications of using animals for sacrificial purposes. He hopes that local church leaders will take up the cause and lead by example in caring for all of God’s creatures.

The Vegan Village Society’s advocacy continues to gain momentum as it strives to protect animal rights and encourage people to embrace a more humane lifestyle.
