End-of-Year Impact Report: Advancing Veganic Agriculture, Women Empowerment, and Compassionate Living in Uganda
As we come to the close of the year, Vegan Village Society Uganda extends warm seasonal greetings and heartfelt gratitude to our partners, supporters, volunteers, and community members. This year has been one of growth, resilience, and meaningful impact as we continued to promote ethical living, veganic food systems, and compassion for animals across Uganda, particularly in the Western region.
- Training More People in Veganic Gardening
Throughout the year, Vegan Village Society intensified its capacity-building efforts by training more individuals and communities in veganic gardening. These trainings focused on soil health, composting without animal inputs, water conservation, seed selection, and climate-resilient food production.
As a result, many households and groups have gained practical skills to grow healthy, nutritious food sustainably, reduce dependence on expensive external inputs, and improve food security. This knowledge transfer is empowering communities to adopt environmentally friendly farming practices while aligning with ethical and vegan principles.

- Support to 50 Veganic Women Groups
A major milestone this year was our continued support to 50 Veganic Women Groups. These groups are at the heart of our mission, as women play a critical role in household nutrition, community leadership, and sustainable agriculture.
Support included training, seeds, tools, follow-up mentorship, and organizational strengthening. Through this initiative, women have improved their livelihoods, increased access to plant-based foods, and built solidarity around veganic farming. The program has also boosted confidence and leadership among women, enabling them to become ambassadors of ethical and sustainable food systems in their communities.

- Hosting the 3rd Annual Vegan Festival
Vegan Village Society successfully hosted the 3rd Annual Vegan Festival, a flagship event that brought together vegans, farmers, activists, and the general public.
The festival served as a powerful platform for education, celebration, and advocacy. Participants engaged in discussions on veganism, animal welfare, health, and climate change, while also enjoying vegan food, cultural performances, and exhibitions. The event significantly increased public awareness of vegan lifestyles and strengthened the vegan movement in Uganda by creating visibility, unity, and inspiration.

- Intensified Animal Welfare Campaigns and Reduced Meat Consumption
This year, we intensified our animal welfare and advocacy campaigns, particularly in Western Uganda. Through community dialogues, media engagement, school outreaches, faith-based engagements, and public events, we promoted compassion for animals and highlighted the ethical, health, and environmental impacts of meat consumption.
These sustained efforts have contributed to a noticeable slowdown in meat consumption in the region, with more individuals expressing interest in plant-based diets and humane treatment of animals. This shift, though gradual, is a significant step toward long-term behavioral change and a more compassionate society.
- Water Access Support with Plenty Food Netherlands
With generous support from Plenty Food Netherland, Vegan Village Society provided water tanks to veganic women groups operating in hilly areas that face severe water shortages.
Lack of water has been a major barrier to successful irrigation and year-round vegetable production. The water tanks have greatly improved access to water for irrigation, reduced the burden on women who previously walked long distances to fetch water, and enhanced crop survival during dry seasons. This intervention has strengthened the resilience and productivity of the supported groups and demonstrated the importance of practical infrastructure support in climate-vulnerable areas.

In summary, the year has been marked by tangible progress in promoting veganic gardening, empowering women, advocating for animals, and building resilient communities. Vegan Village Society remains deeply grateful to all partners, including Plenty Food Netherlands, donors, volunteers, and community members who made these achievements possible.
As we look ahead to the new year, we remain committed to expanding our reach, deepening impact, and continuing to inspire ethical living and sustainable, plant-based food systems across Uganda.
Thank you for walking this journey with us, and we wish you a peaceful and compassionate New Year.
